Feeling exhausted from the daily routine and keen for some time out to rest, restore, nurture and nourish yourself? Then this retreat is for you. You will be in safe hands with two highly experienced accredited health practitioners, Jo Gibbs and Alison O’Sullivan (www.optiliv.com.au). Between the two of them, they have a combined 50 years’ experience in healthcare – their knowledge, experience, compassion and practical skills will guide and nurture you to feel safe, rested and reinvigorated.
This 3 day retreat held at the Beautiful Summer House on the Surf coast is the perfect location to unwind, rest, eat well and take in all that nature has to offer. The retreat offers a perfect balance of relaxation activities, education sessions, guided walks, sunset viewings, and amazing chef prepared food to lead you to experience optimum health and wellbeing and gain that re-charge you are craving.
The Summer House Jan Jun - 5 Camrose Court, Jan Juc
Nested on ½ acre in the seaside town of Jan Juc. The Summer House is an extensively renovated homestead, it features quaint, nostalgic, country charm and additionally it hosts a beautiful yoga studio on site and a solar heated mineral pool.

About the facilitators
Jo is the founder and director of Treat Healthcare which provides comprehensive wellbeing supports for organisations and individuals. Treat sessions have been delivered to over 5000 healthcare and teaching staff in London, Brisbane and Melbourne since 2014. With Jo’s relaxed and practical approach, participants learn how to find important moments of self-awareness, calm, and clarity to help them navigate life’s many stressors and help support their own health, relationships and well-being. Jo is currently studying a Master of Counselling to provide extra therapeutic support to individuals and groups. Jo has three teenage daughters, four rescue animals and a busy medical husband, so understands the demands and dilemmas of modern day life.
Alison is a highly experienced Health and wellbeing consultant having worked in healthcare industry for 23 years. She is an Accredited Occupational Therapist and Health Coach. She has worked as a Manager, Project Lead, Occupational Therapist and more recently a Workforce Wellbeing Coordinator in a large health service – including supporting a workforce of 5000 through the Pandemic.
Alison now consults into businesses regarding health and wellbeing strategies and programs, provides 1:1 Health coaching sessions and arranges wonderful retreats such as these.
Her authentic approach to coaching ensures your unique requirements are taken into account. Given her extensive healthcare experience her recommendations and approach always consider science and best practice to ensure optimum benefit and safety. Alison has completed additional studies in Mindfulness leadership and Health Coaching. Her Health Coaching training included detailed study of Nutrition, coaching and holistic wellbeing.
Alison is a busy mum to two girls so certainly appreciates the constant juggle of family, work and life. Her aim is support you to thrive and be the best and healthiest version of yourself to live a happy and fulfilling life.
FRIDAY 30 September
1.00pm - 2.00pm
Arrive and settle into your room. Unpack, relax by the fire or the pool and beautiful surrounds of the Summer House.
Afternoon tea and mocktails Jo and Alison will guide you through the weekend and get to know you in a relaxed, informal setting.
4.30pm – 5.30pm
Sunset Visit to Torquay Front Beach. Alison will take those that are interested in a drive down to the Torquay front beach to view the sunset and take a short stroll.
6.15pm - 7.30pm
Dinner (a glass of wine to accompany dinner will be available for those guests that are interested).
7.30pm - 8.45pm
Restorative Yoga/Meditation. Jo will guide you through a gentle Yoga practice and complete the experience with a Mindful meditation.
SATURDAY 1 October
8.00am – 9.00am
Morning movement and meditation. You can of course just rest/sleep in if you would prefer – be guided by what your body requires.
9.00am – 10.00am
Breakfast – wholesome breakfast served with a variety of options for guests.
Health Education session – Nutrition and your Wellbeing – Alison will provide a 1:1 individual introductory health coaching session with each participant, related to general wellbeing/wellness wheel activity.
12.30pm - 2.00pm
Lunch and cooking demonstration with Alison. An emphasis will be on Gut health and nutrition with the aim to promote positive mental health. Alison will provide relevant, scientific and practical tips to maximise your wellbeing.
2.00pm – 6.00pm
Free time – to either curl up with a book by the fire, go for a walk by the beach or even take a nap.
*We can also arrange a massage for you if you are interested within this time slot – please let us know when you book. This will be an additional cost.
5.40 – 6.00pm
Pre-dinner Rest and Digest – A short yin yoga and breath practice to prepare your body and mind for digestion and nourishment
6.00pm - 7.30pm
Dinner (a glass of wine to accompany dinner will be available to those guests that are interested).
7.30 - 8.45pm
Yin Yoga and Meditation. Jo will guide you through a beautiful practice, together with the inclusion of Aromatherapy Essential Oils to complete the relaxation and sensory experience.
SUNDAY 2 October
7.30am - 9.00am
Guided walk of the local area, including the wonderful coastline and nature trails.
Of course, if you would prefer a sleep in, or alternatively complete a more intense workout such as a run, you can choose to do your own activity in this time. Fresh fruit will be available prior to brunch in the kitchen.
30 minutes of Mental Fitness and clarity (Mindfulness Practice). Jo will guide you through a brief practice before a farewell brunch.
9.45am - 10.45am
Brunch – A wonderful brunch to close the retreat.
Jo and Alison will complete the retreat with a reflection.
